In The Tuna Truth, TV chef, Serena Appleby, uncovers the truth about tuna fishing, from destructive industrial fisheries to sustainable solutions, and serves up delicious bites along the way. Featuring sustainable restauranters in the UK and fishing communities in the Azores, Serena’s journey teaches viewers how to make more informed choices about the seafood we eat.
Serena is a Filipino-British TV chef and presenter, known for shows like ITV’s Ainsley Harriot’s National Trust Cook Off and BBC3 Hungry For It series, making it to the finals. Her award-winning pop-up, Kring Kringz, fuses Northern comfort food with Filipino flavour.
This film was commissioned by the International Pole and Line Foundation and co-sponsored by Blue Marine Foundation and Sustainable Fisheries and Communities Trust, in partnership with Human Rights at Sea International. The film’s trailer premiered at the UN Ocean Conference in Nice, France in 2025.
